• When your account is created, you’ll receive an email from Soarvo with a link and a temporary password. Click the link, set your own secure password, and you’re good to go.
• If you don’t see the email, check your junk folder just in case.
• After confirming your account, you’ll get a welcome email with some helpful info to get you up and running.

A couple of things to note::

• The Soarvo login URL is: live.soarvo.com
• Once you log in, please take a moment to review and accept the “Terms of Use”

• Admin: Full access to everything and complete management control.
• Project Manager: Can create projects and locations, upload data, and choose users to share with.
• Project Supervisor: Can upload data into projects and locations assigned to them, and choose users to share with
• Editor: Can interact with shared data, and create or edit features and attributes.
• Viewer: Can view projects and locations and use measuring tools, but can’t make changes.
• Mobile User: Has access to the mobile app to capture data on site, and review in the web portal
• Mobile Only: Has access to the mobile app to capture data, but no access to the web portal.

To manage users, just click on the account icon in the top right corner of the home page and select User Management.

Just enter the user’s details and pick the role you want them to have. It’s that simple!

Once you have entered the details that user will get an email to go and create an account

The Account Status will show as unconfirmed until the user has completed that process.

Once the account is displaying as confirmed, you are then able to share Projects and Locations with the user.

To share a Project or Location click on the 3 dots and select Share

Then choose the confirmed user from the list

Projects

Think of a Project as a collection of Locations that share a common thread.

It could be the same client, the same type of survey, or the same asset type.

Locations

A Location is a specific site that can host multiple datasets.

For instance, one Location might include an orthomosaic, several point clouds, a mesh, and more.

Note. Each location within a project must use the same co-ordinate system.

Creating Projects and Locations

Once you have logged into Soarvo – click the New Project button to begin creating a space to load data

Lets begin with the Project Details

Give your project a name, select its Project Category, appropriate co-ordinate system the data has been stored in, and select your measurement units.

Projects can have a category based on what type of data you wish to load into it, to make it easily identifiable on the Home Screen. Choose from General, Drone, Survey, Mobile Mapping or GIS.

Now for the Location Details

You can click the Check Box to create a new location at the same time as the project.

Give the location a name and click the map icon next to Co-ordinates

This allows you to choose the general location of the site that can be displayed on a map

You can click the search icon in the top right hand corner of that window to search for an address, postcode or landmark

Once you have clicked the location on the map, the Latitude and Longitude will be entered in the form. This is so the Location has a general reference on the map view.

Then click Go to Project to continue

You will then see the Location in the directory. Click on it to begin uploading data

The home screen displays the directory view of the Projects and Locations

However you can also switch to a Map view at the top of the screen to see the Locations on a map

There are several areas to note in the map window

Home Button – return to the home screen

Reset View – resets the view to its starting point

Panel Button – select what Panels are visible on screen

Layers Panel – see what data layers have been loaded and click to view / hide each layer

Upload Panel – click to upload files and view the processing status of your data

Maps Button – click to change the background map display

Measure Tools – take measurements within the map window

Features Panel– create new features and select to digitise within the map window

Map Window Controls

PAN – Left Mouse Button – click, hold and move mouse (also Q,Z,A,D on keyboard)

ZOOM – Right Mouse Button – click, hold and move mouse to (also W,S on keyboard)

ROTATE 2D & 3D – Middle Mouse Button or Ctrl + Left Mouse Button – hold Ctrl, click, hold and move mouse (also cursors on keyboard)

Layers Panel

Data imported into a Location will then be shown in the Layers Panel

Data is separated out by type in to groups.

Highlight a layer to change its visibility

Click the eye logo to change a layers visibility

Once you have selected what layers you wish to be displayed by default you can save the view.

Layer Types

Layers will be grouped by type

Data with “features” such as CSV or SHP data will be displayed individually

Data with 3D elements such as Point Clouds or 3D Meshes will appear in the 3D Tiles Section

Data with 2D elements such as DWGs and Orthomosaics will appear in the Geo Referenced Images Section.

If you have imported any Geo Referenced Images they will generate a Site Boundary to show the extents of the data – this will display as a green box on the map. You can turn the visibility of the Site Boundary off like any other layer.

3D Buildings Button

Toggles on and off the Google 3D Buildings Tileset – note not available for every location

Maps Button

Click to change the map style displayed in the background

Upload Panel

Click Upload Files and browse for the files on your PC to upload.

For instructions on file types and how to upload please see separate Uploading Data into Soarvo article

You will see the progress of the file being uploaded to the system for conversion.

Once the file has been uploaded it will then move to the Processing section of the Upload Panel

It will then notify you with a Green tick once the file is processed or an alert if any errors have occurred.

Home Button

Click to return to the Soarvo home screen

Panel Button

Select which Panels and Buttons are visible on screen, and search by place name, road name, or UK Postcode

Search Button

Click to search for a location on the map

Measure Tools

Click each function to perform a measuring task in the data. Tool Tips in the software explains the measure function for each button

Note: While our team continues to work on supporting all variations of the file types listed below in Soarvo, some cases might still require detailed inspection and analysis prior to successful upload. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

Note. Please ensure that the file you are uploading is in the co-ordinate system of the Project

Note. Please ensure you have the correct file names and syntax as detailed below

Note. Please remember that whatever the File or Zip File name is that will be the resultant Layer name

Point Clouds

Upload as .LAS, .LAZ or .E57 file

To create a single layer for multiple point cloud files, zip all files into a .ZIP and upload

Terrestrial Scanner including 360 Pano Images

Zip .E57 and folder containing Pano .JPGs and reference csv file for upload

Upload as .TIF file with geometry embedded into the .tif or with a separate .tfw file

JPG with EXIF DATA

zip containing .EXIF.ZIP

3D Mesh / OBJ

Zip .obj,.mtl, and any referenced textures into zip file

Note – ensure texture references do not have any spaces in names

3D Mesh from DJI Terra

In your exports folder you should have a terra_b3dms folder

Zip the contents of that folder (but not the folder itself). Name the zip file what you wish to call the layer within Soarvo and upload the zip file.

3D Model / IFC

Upload .IFC file

CSV Files

Upload as .CSV file

File must contain a column named “featclass”, plus one of the following fields:

Columns called “x” and “y”

Columns called “latitude” and “longitude”

Column called “geom”, containing a wkt (well known text) ie where the field contains, “point”, “linestring” or “polygon”

SHP Files

Upload an individual shp file as .ZIP file – zip contents of SHP files into one zip file and upload

Zip file must contain the files – .shp .dbf, .shx, .prj

DWG Files

Upload as .DWG file – make sure the file is in the correct measurement units and the extents correctly calculated

Mobile Mapping Data

Upload point cloud as .LAS file

Zip 360 jpgs and reference .csv file into zip file named .ZIP

Upload Planar images a seperate .ZIP file and include Planar 1,2,or 3 in file name – ie roadsurface_planar3.zip

Georeferenced MP4 (DJI Compatible)

Zip file containing MP4 and optionally .srt or DJI formatted .csv for georeferencing purposes

From the Feature Panel click New Feature Type

Give the feature a name ie Signpost and then click the icon to the right

Choose if it is a Point, Line or Polygon feature

And then give it a Style and Colour

You can then click the Attribute button to start to add attributes to the feature.

Give the attribute a name and then click the first icon to choose the attribute type

The attribute options are

Short Text – Single line of text

Long Text – Multiple lines of text

Radio Group – Single option selection list

Checkbox Group – Multiple option selection list

Numerical – Number field with range validation

Boolean – Yes / No

Date Time – Date with optional Time reference

File Upload – Attach jpg’s, PDFs. Word Documents to individual features.

Once you have chosen the attribute type, click the second icon to choose your options for that attribute

You can also choose if input is mandatory

Once you have created all of your attribute fields you can reorder them by clicking to drag the 6 dots icon

Creating a Feature

Once you have a feature setup, click and highlight the feature to be able digitise on the map

Click on the map to choose its location and then select the pencil icon to edit the attributes and complete the data entry

Save the feature to store the location along with the attributes.

Deleting a Feature

To delete a feature make sure you are in Select Mode and click one the feature you wish to delete

Once the feature is selected click on the 3 dots and choose Delete from the menu

To access the Point Cloud Settings menu click the Panels Button next to the home button

Point Cloud Settings

This has the options to change how the point cloud displayed

Select from RGB, Intensity, Classification or Elevation

If you choose classification you also get the option to Show the Classification Panel and select which classifications are visible. Note, you must classify the point cloud before uploading into Soarvo for this function to work.

For elevation choose absolute height or relative height bands and choose a height range.

This will display data colourised by its height value

The lower the Performance Accelerator number the more dense the point cloud displays.

Please note that this could effect browser performance using large scale point clouds

You can also adjust the size of the cubes to give you a more complete view of your point cloud data.

Once happy with the viewing settings click the Panels button again to hide the settings box.

Adjusting a Point Cloud or 3D Model location within the map window.

Point Clouds and 3D Models can display with a different location references compared to the Soarvo Map window.

The location can be manually adjusted simply, to ensure that the 3D Model or Point Cloud sits in the correct position

To access the move tool, select the model or point cloud you wish to move in the layers panel and click the 3 dots

Select the Move option from the menu

This will highlight the selected 3d model or point cloud in green and bring up the move tool adjustment panel

Highlighting each field will allow small adjustments via the up/down arrows, or for a larger move in position you can turn on the Click Move option to make a bigger adjustment to a 3d model or point clouds location.

To access the Opacity Settings menu click the Panels Button next to the home button

Opacity Settings

Soarvo will display an opacity slider for each Orthomosaic loaded into the current Location.

Reduce the level to below 100% to reduce how visible each layer is.

Depth toggle allows data imported to be viewed below the Cesium mapping data if its height values do not correspond with the Cesium terrain data.

Google tileset opacity controls the level of visibility of the Google 3D Buildings Layer

Cesium terrain opacity controls the level of visibility of the Cesium mapping layer

Background visibility allows the option to completely turn off the Cesium mapping and display your imported data on a black background.

Clipping Plane allows you to clip the height of imported models and point clouds to give you a clearer view of internal data

Select Clipping Plane to see the height of the clipping plane.

Then use the up and down arrows or manually change the height value to clip through the model

Volume Calculation

Create a polygon feature in the Feature Panel and draw around the stock pile you wish to measure

Once the polygon is drawn go to the Select Mode in the Feature Panel and select the polygon you have drawn.

Then when selected click the 3 vertical dots in the feature instance and choose Calculate Volume

A progress bar will appear at the bottom of the screen to show the calculation is being done

It will then display the volume calculation report

The map will then also show the points used in the calculation. Refresh the screen to remove the points.

Viewer – View only access to projects and locations

To access the user management section click on the account icon in the top right hand corner of the home screen and select User Management

You will see the User Management panel

Click +New user to add a user to the account

Enter their details and email address and choose their account role.

The account will show as unconfirmed. The user registered will receive an email to invite them to create an account with a password. Please note that this email may go to their Junk folder

Once the user has logged in an created their account it will show as confirmed in the user management panel.

To delete a user highlight them in the user management panel, and click the red delete button

Sharing Data

To share a whole project or an individual location with a registered user click the 3 dots to access the menu on the home screen and click Share

Select the user you wish to share the data with, and they will immediately have access to that data at the user role level you have selected for them

The home screen will show the users you are sharing the project or location with, and you can remove access at any time
